Les Sylphides - Ballet Variations Workshop Beginners/Intermediary to Advance Level / Pointes welcomed too - 7th of March
The ballet, described as a “romantic reverie”, is frequently cited as the first ballet to be simply about mood and dance. Les Sylphides has no plot but instead consists of several white-clad sylphs dancing in the moonlight with the “poet” or “young man” dressed in white tights and a black tunic.
Its original choreography was by Michel Fokine, with music by Frédéric Chopin orchestrated by Alexander Glazunov. Glazunov had already set some of the music in 1892 as a purely orchestral suite, under the title Chopiniana, Op. 46 In that form, it was introduced to the public in December 1893, conducted by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
We will take the ensemble part and work the steps. The beautiful atmosphere that Chopin’s music creates will make you discover a new feeling while performing this Romantic Ballet.
The workshop is open for Beginners and Intermediate to Advance Levels.

Ballet Technique Workshop Beginners/Intermediary to Advance Level
You will learn everything that you should know about postures, poses, and space. Arabesque and Echarte, why is Croise different from Efface. Everyone who is joining the wonderful world of ballet should know these notions, exercises will become friendlier and the accomplishments will be greater! We hear about so-called ballet techniques. What are these? Well, by technique, the general public often refers to the method. Thus, for example, classical academic dance has only one teaching technique, but it has many methods of education, respectively its “processing”. One of the most famous classical dance methods and schools is Vaganova. It was designed by A. Y. Vaganova in 1921, with the establishment of the St. Petersburg Choreographic School. Vaganova wanted to create this technique because he knew the gaps in the ballet company of the Russian Imperial Theater regarding the training and education of the ballerinas. She had been a pupil of the great first ballerina Evghenia Sokolova (who had also studied with Ekaterina Vazem, Christian Johansson, Lev Ivanov, Enrico Cecchetti, Nikolai Legat, and Pavel Gerdt – founders of classical dance in Russia) and after graduating the school was taken, protected and by Marius Petipa.

Swan Lake Act II - Ballet Variations Workshop - 21st of March Beginners/Intermediary to Advance Level -
Swan Lake is a ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1875–1876.
The scenario, initially in two acts, was fashioned from Russian and German folk tales and tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. The choreographer of the original production was Julius Reisinger (Václav Reisinger). The ballet was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet on 4 March 20 February 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
For our workshop, we will remake as much as possible of the original choreography of the 2nd Act. Pointes shoes are welcomed to. You will discover the technique of the “swan arms”, you enter the unique atmosphere that the music creates. We will work as an ensemble and we will learn the steps of the traditional choreography. Join the Swan Lake workshop to enjoy the music and the great feeling.

Pirouette Technique Workshop - 28th of March Beginners/Intermediary to Advance Level -
Just a few aspects that we are going to work on: a quick and precise relevé, sharp spotting with the head, shoulders down and open chest, core engaged, firm port de bras position, working hip pressed down and parallel with the ground, working leg activated and turned out from behind, body directly over the line of the supporting leg, straight supporting knee, leg muscles pulled up, high demi-pointe in the relevé.
A ‘pirouette’ is one of the great achievements that ballet teaches you. A large portion of the skill and effort of achieving beautiful pirouettes has nothing to do with the rotation. In fact, spinning is probably one of the easiest components of a pirouette; it’s the spotting, preparation, correct placement and balance that really make the magic happen. So if you’re serious about improving your pirouettes it’s crucial to have a good understanding of exactly what your body is getting up to without the turn involved.
